I am delighted to announce I had two paintings accepted for Woodhron Museum’s Spring exhibition called Open: Ocean, their first open submission art exhibition.
The exhibition brings together some very talented artists working in the North East to celebrate our coast and seafaring heritage with a variety of work on display.
My entries were ‘Awaiting the Passengers, The Quayside, Newcastle upon Tyne’, 2017 and ‘Amble Marina Shoreline’, 2017
The preview evening held on the 9th February was very well attended and it was great to chat with some of the exhibiting artists. I thoroughly recommend the exhibition, which runs until 7th May. Both of my artworks are for sale so feel free to enquire with staff and pick up a price guide at the entrance.
Entry is £7 per adult though your ticket can be used all year round from the date of purchase for the whole museum. 16 and unders are free. The address is Woodhorn Museum, QEII CountryPark, Ashington, Northumberland, NE63 9YF

Happy New Year everyone and firstly thank you for all the support and kind comments over 2017! I’m heading into 2018 with a view to joining a local art club and hope to exhibit with more artists locally as well as paint with more artists throughout the year. To start off with I am currently showing a number of recent works in the library at Wallsend Customer First Centre from Tuesday 2nd January to Wednesday 28th February 2018.
Called Painting from Life this exhibition will feature a range of work including landscapes painted on location across the North East and beyond as well as still life pieces painted in the studio. All the work is a direct response to painting the subject in front of me in oils, using the alla prima technique of painting wet into wet. As such, the paintings are lively, bold and have a distinct impressionistic feel to them.
The show will present works suitable for many budgets and this is also an opportunity to pick up unframed works and I am excited to show them in their raw form as if straight from the easel. Work can be purchased through the website shop page, through my paypal link paypal.me/stuartjonesart, card payment through Stripe or bank transfer.
For any queries or a cash payment you can contact me in person on 07472 636603.
The address for the venue is as follows so please do check the exhibition out:
Wallsend Customer First Centre

Access is available through automatic double doors, using the lift or esculator with free parking behind the shopping centre in John Street car park. For queries call 0191 643 2075.
I’m pleased to announce that my exhibition Oils in the Open Landscape will be moving to North Shields Library, which I shall be installing on Monday 9th October. The exhibition will be up for the whole month so if you’re in the area please do go along and check it out.
With Christmas not far away, now is a great chance to pick up one of my original artworks and I’m always very appreciative of new collectors. You can now spread the cost over 8 months too with my PayPal link paypal.me/stuartjonesart, making any purchase a bit easier. You also get a 14 day trial period with the work too so it’s not a problem should you need to return it for a refund.
Would be great to hear any feedback on the show using the ol’ social media of which I can be found on my Facebook page as @stuartjonesart, Twitter as @SJonesart and Instagram as stuartjonesart.
All the best,
A big thank you to Lisa for the opportunity and the staff at Summerhill for hosting my show, a great venue and perfectly suited to the subject of my work and encouraging people to get out and enjoy activities in nature. This painting is based on a replica at Summerhill of an Iron Age Roundhouse as the area holds important archeological interest with links to the Romans. There are lots of great things to do at the site such as walks amongst grassy meadows and boulders for climbing. Hope you get to visit and have a coffee in the café and take in the paintings on show.
I’ll be setting up my easel and taking inspiration from many of the interesting outdoor features and nature habitats at Summerhill to create new paintings, as well as painting en plein air at a few other favourite locations in Hartlepool.
Dates to follow though I’ll keep you all posted. Excited and looking forward to it.
