I really enjoyed working from this seasonal subject in a rural location of Northumberland. The texture and marks to suggest the hay was a joy to express in oil paint, as well as each bale’s size in relation to each other to suggest the depth. A summer storm was rolling in, providing a lovely colour contrast to the bales.
