Looking into the light, Whitley Bay

Painted en plein air at Whitley Bay, the Winter light was beautiful as I painted this piece contre-jour, looking into the light, towards the Spanish City in the distance.  The contrast of lights and darks was wonderful to work with and capturing the intriguing blues of the lampposts and seating areas.  I caught a glimpse of a cyclist whizzing by and quickly put him in.
